Hi Patti, thanks for the meandering 13 mins. I am catching up so very late. 'EE 'Doc' Smith was the very model of the 'pulp' SF story, suitable for boys of the Golden Age (12).
Perhaps the Man of Many Minds arose from the use of too much radioactive toothpaste.
E.Everett Evans and his wife Thelma were prominent in SF Fandom back in the day. The long running 'Big Heart' award was originally in honour of EEE, and is still awateded at Worldcons to this day. Hope you enjoy both your purchases.
just watched this video, loved it!!! now before i go to bed i'll read a few pages in 'just kids', my favourite book from my favourite author, thank you patti, lots of love <3
Hi Patti Deer— Beautiful exhibition opens this weekend at the Ukrainian Museum. If you are making gains w/ jet lag & feel OK, I think you’ll be gratified & inspired to see such wonderful works. The co-curator, Oksana, has traveled from Kyiv, to hang the show . . long trains & planes! The museum is at: 222 East 6th Street, between 2nd & 3rd Avenues. We’ll be stopping by on Wednesday at noon. Let me know, if you can, will put you on guest list. Vbpd
I adore that pic of you!!! I would love to get a copy of it.
I also love Science Fiction. Especially since I taught Mythology and Science Fiction at the high school level for over twenty years. You know part of science fiction stems from mythology.
Children of Radium - I was intrigued enough to wanto read this straight away. Better still, it is available as auduo book read by the author himself. I am about halfway through now.
Thank you, Patti, for unearthing this gem. A truly internatiomal cooperation: book found in the US, written by Welsh guy about his Jewish family roots in Germany, read, or rather listened to by an Austrian born, British national.
Dear Patti, So sorry for the late reply. It was wonderful to see you and I hope you got some much needed rest. Love the books and you will have to let us know your thoughts on them once you read them. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. Big hug to you and everyone here. XO.
Thank you for the "pre" reviews Patti. You mention Edward E Smith who wrote the intro to "Man of Many Minds". I have read a lot of SF and back in the 1960s he was considered one of the fathers of science fiction. When I was young I read a number of his books in his Lensmen and Skylark series (long since lost). They were books that were kind of written for young boys. He wrote under the name of E.E. "Doc" Smith. And when I saw the cover of "Man of Many Minds" he was who I thought of immediately before you mentioned Smith's name as writing that intro. It makes me want to check Betterworldbooks or someplace similar to see if I can find them (no real used bookstores here in Delaware). And I'll try for "Man of Many Minds", too! Maybe I better check ebay for the books instead, they are probably out of print. And that "Children of Radium" book looks very intriguing...

I enjoyed this so much. I’m a retired teacher/librarian. Hope we get a book review of both. Can we start a book club on here?!
Thank you for this post. I am constantly loving the peace I feel when I hear about your days. And sometimes you have to give a book a chance. You did!
Are you talking to me? Or really yourself?^^
Good night
